Student Affairs Employee of the Month
The Student Affairs Employee of the Month program recognizes employees who make exceptional contributions to the Division of Student Affairs and demonstrate the values that guide our work.
Each month, we celebrate a colleague whose work makes a meaningful difference for our students, colleagues, departments, or the division. Whether through highly visible accomplishments or important work happening behind the scenes, this program provides an opportunity to recognize the people who make Student Affairs stronger.
Eligibility
Nominees must:
- Be a regular full-time, part-time, or temporary staff member within the Division of Student Affairs.
- Have been employed within the division for at least six months.
- Be in good standing and not on an active performance improvement plan.
- Not have been selected as a Student Affairs Employee of the Month within the previous 12 months.
Self-nominations are not permitted.
Nomination Procedures
Any Student Affairs employee may nominate an eligible colleague for Employee of the Month.
Nominations are accepted from the 1st through the 15th of each month for that month's recognition.
Nominators will be asked to identify one or more Student Affairs values demonstrated by the nominee and provide a specific example of how the employee brought those values to life through their work.
Our Student Affairs values include:
- Student Centered: Prioritizes the needs, experiences, and success of students through decisions, interactions, programs, services, or behind-the-scenes work that supports the student experience.
- Purposeful Education: Creates or supports intentional learning experiences that contribute to students' personal, academic, or professional growth and development.
- Excellence: Demonstrates a strong commitment to quality, service, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Innovation: Uses creativity, new ideas, or forward-thinking approaches to improve programs, services, processes, or the student or staff experience.
- Collaboration: Builds meaningful partnerships with colleagues, departments, campus partners, students, or the broader community to advance shared goals and support holistic student development.
Nominees do not need to demonstrate all five values to be considered.

Eligible nominees who are not selected will remain in the nomination pool for up to three months. After that time, the employee may be nominated again. After that time, the employee may be nominated again.
Selection Process
Following the close of nominations, each nominee's supervisor will confirm that the employee meets the program's eligibility requirements and is in good standing.
Eligible nominations will then be reviewed by a five-member selection committee comprised of Student Affairs staff representing different departments and areas of the division.
Committee members will consider:
- The Student Affairs value or values demonstrated by the nominee;
- The strength and specificity of the example provided; and
- The demonstrated impact of the nominee's actions on students, colleagues, their department, or the Division of Student Affairs.
The committee will select one Student Affairs Employee of the Month. The selection process will generally be completed within approximately 14 days after nominations close.
Recognition
The Employee of the Month program gives us an opportunity to regularly recognize the people whose work makes a difference for our students, our colleagues, and our Student Affairs community. Let's come together to celebrate the people making an impact!
