Welcome to the University of Pittsburgh! We are excited that you’re interested in joining our Fraternity and Sorority community. The first step to joining an organization is determining which one of our three councils is right for you. Once you are ready to pursue membership, we encourage you to use the steps outlined below to approach the council or organization of your choice.

Requirements
Students interested in joining a fraternity or sorority at Pitt must:
- Have 12 University of Pittsburgh Credits
- Have a 2.5 University of Pittsburgh GPA
- Attended a Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) 101 Session

- Recruitment occurs all year long, except for formal recruitment days. While the formal recruitment process involves more direct communication with chapters, you can see where you fit any time of year. Stay tuned for more information on formal recruitment.

- Expressing interest in NPHC can be done multiple ways, like coming to events, attending an informational meeting or just reaching out! Students wanting to get involved and receive chapter information can complete the Interest Form for more information.

- Members can join Panhel through Primary Recruitment, hosted at the beginning of fall semester, or any time after Primary Recruitment through Continuous Open Bidding (COB). Stay tuned for more information on primary recruitment registration.
- Associate Member Organizations conduct recruitment independently. Please contact those individual chapters for more information.

Fraternity and Sorority Life 101
All students who are interested in fraternity and sorority life are required to attend a Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) 101 session prior to recruitment or intake. These sessions will cover basic fraternity and sorority life terminology, expectations for membership, rights and responsibilities of new members, sexual assault prevention, alcohol safety, combating exclusive traditions, hazing education, and transparency about what to expect. Leaders from each council and a professional staff member facilitate these sessions. Sessions will be offered varying times and dates in the fall and spring semesters to accommodate those wanting to seek membership. This training session is one-hour long that consist of both discussion base and lecture, so please be prepared for when you attend. These sessions will be in-person at various locations on campus.
Those interested in attending a session would need to register using the links below. Please note, certain sessions will have a heavier focus on a specific council, please make sure you are aware of which session you will be attending. Attendance will be taken at the end of the session.
