Alternative Spring Break is a weeklong service project taking place from March 8 to March 14, 2026. During this trip, a select group of 10-15 students will engage in an immersive service experience, with a particular emphasis on sustainability.
Participation in this experience comes at no cost to the student. Housing, meals, and transportation are all provided by the office of PittServes.
This year's trip will be in partnership with the Rachel Carson Trail Conservancy (RCTC).
Potential activities, determined by the needs of the community, include trail stewardship, habitat enhancement, and education. After the day of volunteering, we will meet with a local community member to better understand the site, its history, and its culture. At the end of each day, the group will have time to eat, relax, and enjoy the rest of the night.
On Wednesday, we will have a cultural recreation day. We will explore the area as tourists rather than volunteers, hopefully leading us toward a deep appreciation for the land and those who inhabit it.
If you are interested, please fill out the form below by January 20th. Please note – filling out the form does not mean that you are automatically accepted into the program and you can withdraw your participation any time before January 20th. Once you have completed the form and are confirmed eligible, you will be sent an interview date.
