MAJ William Strouse

Assistant Professor of Military Science

MAJ Strouse was born in Baltimore, MD and enlisted in the US Army as an imagery analyst in April 1998. He is first assignment was with 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood. His follow on assignment was conducting hardware & software testing with the Joint Test Force in Melbourne, FL where he was selected for promotion to Sergeant First Class in 2005. He elected, instead, to attend the University of Central Florida where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Finance in 2009. He re-entered the Army and completed OCS, commissioning in 2010 and branching Military Intelligence.

MAJ Strouse’s initial assignment was with the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment at Fort Hood, TX where he deployed to Iraq as an Assistant S2. He returned to Fort Hood where he worked as the Tiger Squadron AS2 then took an executive officer position with the Headquarters & Headquarters Troop until PCSing to the MI Captain’s Career Course located at Fort Huachuca, AZ. In 2014, he became the S2 for 6-1 Cav Squadron as part of 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, TX.  In 2016, he assumed Command of the New Orleans Recruiting Company in New Orleans, LA under US Army Recruiting Command. In 2018 he PCSd to Rock Island Arsenal, IL to work as an Intelligence Officer in the First Army HQs G2. MAJ Strouse was selected for the Voluntary Transfer Incentive Program (VTIP) for Functional Area 40, Space Operations. Upon graduation from the Space Operations Qualification Course, he was assigned as the Director for Plans, Training, Mobilization & Security for US Army Garrison Kwajalein Atoll, in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. In 2023, Will and his family were assigned to the University of Pittsburgh ROTC Program in Pittsburgh, PA. MAJ Strouse is married to Courtney Strouse, has three children, and is currently serving as an assistant professor of military science at the University of Pittsburgh.

MAJ Strouse’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Army Superior Unit Award, the Army Basic Recruiter Badge and the Army Basic Space Badge.
