Gretchen Natter was appointed Assistant Dean of Students for Community and Inclusion in June of 2023. She oversees the Community & Inclusion Team which includes, the Office of Belonging and Inclusion, Fraternity and Sorority Life, PittServes, and Student Media (Pitt News and WPTS). In this role, Ms. Natter will provide leadership for advancing the division’s strategic focus on improving students’ social and academic development through community and will advance forward-thinking and innovative ideas to keep the Division of Student Affairs at the forefront of trends and best practices to serve students.
Ms. Natter has an extensive professional background in student affairs and came to Pitt from Gettysburg College, a nationally ranked liberal arts college in Pennsylvania, where she formally served as Assistant Dean of College Life and Executive Director of the Center for Public Service (CPS).
Ms. Natter earned her Master of Arts in Community Change and Civic Leadership at Antioch University (OH) and her Bachelor of Science in Education at Baldwin-Wallace College. She believes in and advocates for “the transformative potential of higher education, as well as the power of people to collectively create change when acting on a common vision.”
