I want our students to feel and know, first and foremost, that they are welcome here at Pitt. As a native of the area, I am personally eager to help them feel as if Pittsburgh is a home away from home. Pitt has a long legacy of embracing students from all over the world, while also offering opportunities for students study abroad in programs across the globe. I am thrilled to be in a position to support and learn from so many students from so many different backgrounds and identities. In the Irish language we say, "Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine." This ancient proverb reminds us that it is in the shelter of each other that we survive. It is a beautiful reminder that we are stronger together.
