CPT Alexander D. Larson is from Andover, Minnesota where he spent most of his childhood. He received a four-year scholarship with the Reserve Officer Training Corps for Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri where he graduated with honors with a degree in Criminal Justice. He later earned his master’s degree in Business and Organizational Security Management from Webster University.
After graduating Military Police Basic Officer Leader’s Course as the Honor Graduate, CPT Larson was assigned as a Platoon Leader for the 127th Military Police Company and deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. Upon his return to Fort Carson, CO, CPT Larson was selected to serve as the Rear Detachment Commander for the 110th Military Police Company when they deployed to Europe in support of Atlantic Resolve. CPT Larson was then assigned as the S3 Plans Officer for the 759th Military Police Battalion before attending the Captain’s Career Course at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Upon graduation, CPT Larson was assigned as the S3 Training Officer for the 709th Military Police Battalion in Vilseck, Germany. He was then assigned as the first Commander of the Combined Military Working Dog Detachment – Europe; a brand new organization and the first of its kind in the US Army which consolidated all MWD assets in Europe under a single unified command. CPT Larson is currently assigned as an Assistant Professor of Military Science at the University of Pittsburgh Army ROTC.
CPT Larson’s military education includes the Military Police Basic Officer Leader’s Course as the Honor Graduate, the Crime Prevention and Physical Security Course, and the Military Police Captain’s Career Course.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal (Campaign Star), The Global War on Terror Service Medal, the Armed Forces Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal (ISAF), and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge in Silver.
