Charles Guthrie, MSN, NEA-BC, CPN, has served as the Executive Director of Student Health Services (SHS) since June 2023.
As Executive Director, Mr. Guthrie provides leadership and vision in identifying and implementing strategies that build upon the strengths and success of SHS in providing health care to Pitt’s diverse student population, inspires and supports a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals, administrative staff, and trainees and works closely with other partners across campus and in the larger Pittsburgh community.
Prior to Pitt, Mr. Guthrie had a 23-year career at UPMC in both direct patient care and nursing leadership, serving most recently as a Clinical Director at UPMC Mercy hospital and as a clinical instructor at Duquesne University supervising nursing students during their leadership clinical rotation. Prior to that role, Mr. Guthrie spent 18 years at UPMC Children’s Hospital.
Mr. Guthrie earned his Bachelor of Science in nursing at Pennsylvania State University and his Master of Nursing in nursing administration at Waynesburg University.
