- Writing and Communications Internship

The Marketing and Communications office in the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh is offering a writing and communications internship. Responsibilities will include working with the Marketing Specialist and Student Affairs staff to:
- Research, write, and edit student feature articles highlighting campus life, achievements, and events
- Assist in drafting, editing, and proofreading the Division’s newsletter
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create engaging social media captions, posts, and stories
- Conduct interviews with students, staff, or alumni for storytelling projects
- Write and edit content for web pages, blog posts, and internal communications as needed
- Contribute to brainstorming sessions for marketing campaigns and content calendars
- Ensure all written content aligns with the brand’s tone, voice, and messaging
The ideal candidate will have proven writing and editing skills along with skills and experience working with the Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with social media management and software such as Canva is ideal but not required.
Candidates should be able thrive in a fast-paced environment, work well individually and as a member of a team, have excellent attention to detail, and be able to meet deadlines.
Hours are flexible and include evening and weekend hours when necessary to cover events.
- Graphic Design Internship

The Marketing and Communications office in the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh is offering a graphic design internship for fall 2026 and/or spring 2027 term.
The ideal candidate will:
- Design graphics for print and digital platforms, including newsletter headers, posters, social media posts, and event flyers.
- Collaborate with content creators to visually interpret student features and highlight stories.
- Ensure all designs align with the university’s visual identity and the Student Affairs brand guidelines.
- Work with the communications team to brainstorm, plan, and execute creative campaigns or themed visuals.
- Manage and organize design files, version control, and template libraries to support efficient workflow.
Applicants must have proven graphic design ability, strong typography skills, and experience working with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop), as well as Microsoft Office. Samples of previous work required.
Work environment is fast-paced, and both excellent attention to detail and meeting assigned deadlines are critical. Some writing, editorial, and photography skills also would be beneficial. Hours are flexible.
- Social Media Internship

The Marketing and Communications office in the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh is offering a writing and communications internship for the fall 2026 and/or spring 2027 term.
Responsibilities will include working with the Marketing Specialist and Student Affairs staff to:
- Assist in creating, scheduling, and publishing content for platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok
- Monitor social media channels for engagement and respond to comments, messages, and mentions
- Conduct competitor research and track social media trends and insights
- Help brainstorm and implement creative campaigns and social media strategies
- Assist in creating visual content (graphics, reels, stories) using tools like Canva or Adobe Suite
- Compile weekly/monthly performance reports and suggest areas for improvement
- Collaborate with the marketing team on cross-channel initiatives and promotions
Hours are usually worked Monday through Friday but are flexible and can include evening and weekend hours when necessary to cover events.
Writing and media samples are not required but are encouraged.

- Multimedia Internship

The Marketing and Communications office in the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh is offering a photography & video production internship for the fall 2026 and/or spring 2027 term.
As a photography & video production intern, you will:
- Assist with planning, filming, and editing video content for various platforms (e.g., YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, digital screens)
- Capture photos at events hosted by Student Affairs departments
- Organize and manage multimedia assets for marketing use
- Edit photos and videos using tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, or Lightroom
- Support in setting up video shoots, including lighting, audio, and camera setup
- Collaborate with the marketing and design team to develop creative concepts and storyboards
- Help repurpose long-form video into shorter clips for social media
- Ensure all content aligns with the brand’s tone, style, and messaging
The ideal candidate:
- Has proven photography and/or video production experience.
- Is working toward a career in production, digital marketing, or a related field.
- Possesses a base knowledge of any of the following software:
- Adobe Lightroom
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Premiere
- Adobe After Effects
- Davinci Resolve
- Can work autonomously when the Creative Producer is unavailable.
- Is a thorough communicator.
- Is eager to learn, exercising a growth mindset.
- Hours are flexible and often include weekends and evenings as well as office hours.
